The Rich Tarbell 10.

He’s been the official photographer of the Charlottesville area music scene for better than 15 years. It’s impossible to overstate the importance of his beautiful and extensive body of work to this community. Recently I challenged Rich to pick his 10 favorite shots so we could sit down and talk about them. He turned it into a discussion of our community, the fragility of the scene and the need for a new generation to pick up the standard and carry us forward. We learned that more than a great photographer, Rich wears a ton of hats behind the scenes — from conceptualizing shows to helping artists create content to bringing artists and venues together to tackling event logistics. He’s part of the bedrock of the Central Va music community so grab an ice coffee or a coupla tall boys and hit play.
