Palmyra Releases Live from the Jeff Vinyl. We Can’t Wait to Get Ears On It.
If you are a Palmyra fan (and we have been big fans of this band since the Mysterious Jon and I saw them at the Southern in the summer of 2024) this is a big week.
First of all, their Live from the Jefferson Theater vinyl goes on sale today and if you were at that show, you know — this is a must-own disc. Bazz covered that evening of Friday March 28, 2025 and he was absolutely overcome with the love and excellence in the storied Cville theater that night. To learn that tape was rolling (or bits were…processing) is almost too much to ask for.
Second of all, after a long tour fall over the country, we get them back in Virginia for shows with Dogwood Tales at some of the most iconic venues in the Commonwealth.
Pinch me.
It seemed like the perfect time to go live with an interview we did with the band at the 5 Spot in Nashville at the Virginia Day Party at AMERICANAFEST back in September. We talked about how they found each other and how their stay in the birthplace of Country Music (Floyd County) and their residence in the DIY scene in Harrisonburg has shaped them. We talked about their unique ability to speak to the anxiety and stress and strains of life in general and on the road. We also learned what they are doing to take care of themselves and keep giving their fans everything they’ve got. Stick around because at the end of the talkin’, you’ll also catch a performance of an unreleased banger Get While The Gettin’s Good.
So grab a leftover turkey sandwich with mayo and cranberry sauce with kosher salt (and maybe Swiss) on white bread, sit back and hit play.
Oh! before you do, you better head on over to their website and get your copy of the Live at the Jeff vinyl. They’ve only got 500 for sale and only half of those are available on line. You could also pick one up at the merch table at their shows, but hell, those are damn near all sold out!
And have a happy but thoughtful Black Friday, the official holiday of Late Stage Capitalism. May we learn to tax billionaires back to millionaire status and spread that wealth with those who are hungry and in need of a home.
